Pennsylvania Accounts for a Dip in Sports Betting Revenue

Due to the global pandemic situation, many on-ground casinos and gambling tournaments are restricted. Major sporting events that previously saw a lineup of aficionados in sports betting are now expeiencing a grave decline. As gambling establishments begin to reopen, a revenue loss has been recorded by the US state of Pennsylvania for the month of April 2021. 

The absence of prominent annual sporting tournaments like NCAA and the NFL has resulted in a 14.4% revenue decline in April 2021. In contrast to March’s sports betting revenue which had generated a successful $560.3 million, the month of April saw a surprising slump with a revenue generation of only $479.4 million. However, the noteworthy success is that the records are two-folds better than last year’s sports betting market which had a recorded $46 million in revenue. 

The Pennsylvanians had a stronghold over the sports betting market at the onset of this revival year. The sports betting records for January 2021 saw a momentous revenue value of $600 million being credited. 

PA’s Digital Gambling industry tells a slightly different story. The revenue slump accounted for April 2021 saw only a decline of 5.7% wealth. As for Interactive digital gambling, March 2021 witnessed a revenue generation of $1.754 billion and April 2021 recorded a slight dip in their revenue accounting for $1.752. 

All hope is not lost for the sports betting industry of Pennsylvania. Digital Poker games account for $2.345 million in revenue. PA’s Digital Gambling services and products are impressive. Barstool Sports, a new app was released last month and the response to its launch remains to be seen in the coming months. 

BetMGM and Borgata also have new products planned for the state. Pennsylvania is now placing its bets to emerge from the dark waters of April’s revenue filings and be victorious in the month of May 2021.
